I created a fully detailed guide (with nearly 40 pictures!) on how to disassemble your V3 Razr over on MoMo. Many parts of the Razr can be cleaned/repaired/replaced by opening up the phone. A few of the most common reasons you may want to disassemble the phone:

  • You may just be crazy.
  • Your phone has water damage. Disassembling the phone, giving it an alcohol bath with a Q-Tip and letting the parts dry a couple days before reassembling the phone often will reverse the negative effects of water damage.
  • Your screen is messed up (scratched/cracked/weird colors) and you want to clean/replace it.
  • Your mic/speaker is not working well, and you would like to replace it.
  • Etc...

You can find spare parts for the Razr at www.cnn.cn. The guy lives in Hong Kong, and usually can get you a product to the US within 7 days of when you place the order. I've bought quite a few things from him, and never had any trouble.

Other good resources for Razr disassembly are ajay16's .pdf disassembly guide (brilliantly done, be aware its a 1.84 MB download and 30 pages long), or Razr V3's find of the official Motorola V3 disassembly guide (not as detailed, also .pdf).
