All right, now that we have all the files we need, we need to do what is arguably the toughest part. First--know that modding only works well with Windows XP. Mac and Linux users--you gotta hop on an XP box to do this. Just a quick shout out to all the programmers out there: if you can code and would be willing to port any of these programs to Linux/OSX, PLEASE let us know! Email me at the link above. We can provide some monetary support as well if need be. OK, on to the modding...
Create a MotoMods folder. While not completely necessary, I find it much easier to have ONE folder where everything gets stored for all my MotoModding needs. For now, we will assume it is C:/MotoMods. I will refer to this location from now on as being where things are stored. If you choose to place programs/files elsewhere, please note that when I mention addresses.
Install Motorola PST. This program is only available to authorized Motorola Service Centers, and is not publicly available. However, clicking the link will bring you to Google, and if you search, you *may* be able to find PST there...
Open the .rar or .zip file you downloaded for Motorola PST. You also need the patch .zip for PST--it can usually be found the same place you downloaded PST itself. (If you don't have WinZip or WinRar to uncompress the files--I recommend AlZip. Its a free program, although you DO have to register on the site). Inside the .zip/.rar file, click the PST_6.7_GENERAL.EXE file to install the program.
Click Run, even though the file is not signed. Click Yes to the License Agreement. When PST asks if you would like to restart the computer, say No for now.
Your computer may say "Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it. You can only install this update on a computer with no Service Packs installed." If so, don't worry, and click OK. If any other errors come up, click OK on them as well.
Patch Motorola PST. Open the PST_6.7_PATCH .zip/.rar you downloaded, and copy all of the contents into the folder you installed PST into (default is C:\Program Files\Motorola\PST--the only thing we will install which won't go to our MotoMods folder). When the "Confirm File Replace" window comes up, click "Yes to All" and then when it is finished, close out of the window.
Extract the P2K Drivers. You should have already downloaded the WindowsXP P2K(USB) & MotoModem DriverPack from MotoModders.net (you must be logged in to MotoModders to access the link and to download files).
Now open the .zip file and copy (extract) all the files/folders in that .zip DriverPack to your MotoMods folder. You should wind up with 5 folders and 3 files from the DriverPack.
Restart the Computer.
