Common Issues .
These are some of the most common issues that arise when flashing/flexing/modding your phone, and how to fix them. Any other questions, you can search the MotoModders forum for answers...
My battery dies FAST! Occasionally after flashing/flexing/modding your phone, the battery will somehow get messed up (we're still not sure exactly what it is) and drain VERY fast. We're talking from 3 bars to 2 in less than an hour. If you experience this, let the phone die COMPLETELY (til is shuts down on its own) and then charge it up fully overnight WHILE THE PHONE IS OFF. This will fix your battery! I get 3-4 days between charges typically. You may have to do this twice, but 9 times out of 10 once will do it.
Flex Error:Phone Subsidy Locked. If, after flashing/flexing, you get this message when powering on the phone, don't despair! The phone is not actually locked, its just a glitch with flashing/flexing.
From djdownhill:
1. Use one of the p2k programs and search and delete the secure_pds_init file.
2. BEFORE you restart the phone, go into the Settings>Personalize>Greeting menu and delete the startup message or change to something else if you'd like.
3. Then reboot the phone and the message shouldn't come back.
4. The key is to first delete that file, then change or delete the greeting message, then restart.
Where can I find PST/MPT? Both PST (Product Service Tool) and MPT (Motorola Phone Tools) are programs we do not provide free links to. PST is a program only used in Motorola Service Centers, and is not available to the public, although it IS available on Google, if you know what you are looking for. MPT is available for $29.99 from Motorola.
I can't access my ringtone menu! If you delete locked ringtones from your phone, problems can occur when you try to access your ringtone menu (as in, it will kick you right back out of the menu when you try to access it). djdownhill wrote a good post on MoMo on how to fix this, including screenshots. Check it out here.
How can I get my phone unlocked/figure out if my phone is unlocked? There are plenty of sites on the net which will unlock phones, unfortunately there is not yet any free way to do it. GSM Liberty seems to be a good site, and one I have purchased from before. How to tell if your phone is unlocked? Well, pretty much the only way is to put a SIM card from a different carrier in your phone. If the phone powers on and will let you into the menus, you know the phone is unlocked!
